It is the mission of the P.S. 163 community to provide an academic environment that engages and enriches our children through developmentally appropriate activities. We seek to foster creativity while supporting a variety of learning styles that build upon core knowledge of reading, writing, and mathematics. We provide a safe and nurturing physical environment that allows children appropriate mobility within the classroom, draws upon a variety of materials, is aesthetically pleasing, and reflects our children’s work. The social environment of P.S. 163 is sensitive to the individual needs of children, and fosters trust and respect for cultural diversity through open communications. Our curriculum incorporates the best of a variety of teaching methods. We seek to promote critical thinking, analytic skills, and problem-solving. It is our goal to encourage intellectual curiosity and to develop in our students a passion in life for learning.
