Grades: PK-5 School: PS 166 the Richard Rodgers School of the Arts and Technology in Upper West Side

Here at P.S. 166 we have a vision of a school where all children are encouraged to achieve to the best of their ability, where learning standards are reached and then surpassed, where we integrate core curriculum with innovation in the arts and latest technology to insure preparedness of our students for the years ahead. Our mission is to create an environment where the individual strengths and styles of teachers and students are encouraged to maximize teaching and learning. Our teachers are encouraged to stretch their imaginations in presenting the standards, and are given access to the tools needed to achieve these goals. We use parents as an aid to the work done within the school. We found that with parents lending their professional expertise along with the teachers’ instruction, the children have concrete uses for their learning, and role models to guide their choices in life.
