Discussion about
But we already knew about this, didn't we? http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20090809/SMALLBIZ/308099970#
I'm waiting for a bull to yawn again... but then we'll just pull out the LONG thread from last week where a bunch of 'em complained that was BS.
I guess the next argument is that Crains, Miller Samuel and streeteasy are all hopeless bears paying 50% of their take home pay for rent, yada yada.
is Williamsburg in Manhattan?
does the article limit itself to williamsburg?
WillBurg is not in MnHtTn.
Good Day, AR, The article does not limit itself to WllBurg.
printer: does this make you feel better
"In a report on Manhattan residential real estate this spring, Mr. Miller estimated that in addition to the 10,445 condominiums that showed up in unsold inventory, there were as many as 7,000 shadow units."
it would help if the writer of the article understood the difference between co-ops and condos. That said, i don't think it is understood how the well-known issues around new development, most of which is in gentrifying areas like FiDi and Williamsburg will effect the established residential areas of Manhattan.
I live on the UES. You could offer me one of these new-build condos for 1/2 the price of my current place, and I wouldn't care.

Plenty of "shadow" condos in Manhattan, specifically Harlem.
