I guess the next argument is that Crains, Miller Samuel and streeteasy are all hopeless bears paying 50% of their take home pay for rent, yada yada.

it would help if the writer of the article understood the difference between co-ops and condos. That said, i don't think it is understood how the well-known issues around new development, most of which is in gentrifying areas like FiDi and Williamsburg will effect the established residential areas of Manhattan.

I live on the UES. You could offer me one of these new-build condos for 1/2 the price of my current place, and I wouldn't care.

Plenty of "shadow" condos in Manhattan, specifically Harlem.
