Can anyone recommend an expediter for a Manhattan renovation? I have drawings that were signed and sealed by an architect. Need submission and permits applied for.

Thanks in advance.

Our architect used http://jamesmacdonaldltd.com/ - they seemed pretty responsive.

If you're going for cheap, Chinatown expediters are the cheapest. We used them once before for another reno, I'll try to dig the name up.

Found it:

This was the architect used by our "Chinatown" expediters - I think King Associates were the expediters, Paul
Angelides was the architect.

I think the contact at the expediters was Ronny Lam. I had no direct contact with them, GCs took care of that. But the permits were filed in a very timely fashion.

I wouldn't recommend James McDonald - we had some issues during our reno, issues that could have been resolved much more quickly had they known what they were doing. It was their job to deal with the DOB, and they continually pointed fingers at everyone else. I ended up going down there myself and got everything resolved relatively quickly.

Eponymous, you will need the architect who signed and sealed the original dwgs. to do the final sign off on your job to get the city letter saying your place passes inspection and is therefore a legal abode. Same architect has to perform a certain amount of construction visits to check code compliance. If you have fallen into some kind of difficult situation related to existing arch., you will need to get the existing arch. to agree in writing to stop work on the project, you can then hire another, but you have to pay fees for the new drawings in some fashion. Possibly your new expeditor could advise on this.
