How did streeteasy manage to make 1000 apts for sale dissapear from their manhattan listing? Something fishy is going on here. Yesterday they listed close to 11,000 apts for sale in manhattan (up from about 6,000 last summer. Yet today they came down to ~10000. a step down by 1000 apts. How do you do that. This is all cooked by the manhattan realtors.
Wouldn't a publicly accessible MLS be like a broker's dream come true in a strong seller's market? Prices are rising rapidly, property is going into contract quickly at offers above the ask, and asking prices are on the rise. It's like free advertising!
Whereas, in a softer, buyer's market, wouldn't a publicly accessible MLS be like a broker's worst nightmare? Few properties are going into contract and selling prices are well below the asking prices. Why would anyone feel an urgency to buy at full ask with those kinds of stats at your fingertips? It wouldn't surprise me if big real estate companies pulled their listings (especially their softer listings) from streeteasy!
Has Manhattan ever had a publicly accessible MLS before streeteasy?
Something happened with Douglas Elliman today. I got tons of Streeteasy notifications that Elliman properties were "no longer on the market". Anyone know what's up?
i had one listing on elliman saved (it was in contract) and it also gave me the "unavailable" message, but elliman's site doesn't say it is sold.
My listing was terminated a couple of weeks ago. It was off Elliman website immediately, but remained on streeteasy website for the past two weeks. I sent streeteasy an email earlier today inquiring why my listing is still on there website. They obviously corrected the problem. I do not think there is a conspiracy here. Probably some IT issue.
Something is definitely up with the interaction with Elliman. I got a notice today that tons of places are now "no longer available" even though they still show up on the Elliman website.
streeteasy - do you know what is going on here ? have elliman stopped being involved with the site?
No, I think they all just sold miraculously overnight due to great marketing.
The number is back up to 11,070 in Manhattan as of about 12:30 Thursday.
StreetEasy -- what's going on?
Sorry about that. We've been doing some housecleaning with listings and this caused a number of Elliman listings to be removed from the site. We've fixed that issue and the listings should be correct now. Send us a support email if you notice any more issues.
