Has anyone used Cityproof recently? I am interested in getting my many windowed apartment sealed to rid my home of, yes, the sirens but mostly, the dirt and dust.

How effective are the windows in getting rid of the noise? the dust/dirt?
Did you use the 1/2" or 3/4" windows? Is there a huge difference between these window thicknesses?
Did you go with the ultra clear glass or the 'regular' (light greenish tint supposedly) glass?

Does anyone know of any good competitors? Citiquiet has been non-responsive so any other reputable, insured firm recommendation would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Sorry... I just realized you've visited both CityProof and CitiQuiet

I think they are the only two specializing in this.

good luck

I used Cityproof in two apartments. They are not cheap, but they do what they promise in keeping out the noise. My last apartment was close to the FDR and I would say they reduced the noise by 90% BUT you have to do all windows including the door to the balcony (if you have one) but if you want quiet they are worth the money,

markkgg - Thanks for the input. Do you recall if you used the 1/2" or 3/4" option? Also, did you splurge on the their ultra clear glass versus their 'regular' colored glass which supposedly has a slight greenish hue?

I went for the thinner glass in the living rooms and the thicker glass in the bedroowms (but I thought it was 1/4 and 1/2, but I could be wrong). That was fine for me. I went for the regular clear glass and I never noticed a greenish hue...

One more thing coopownr98- i didnt do the tomb like thing around my through wall air conditioner - I thought it was way too much money and I wasn't that concerned about all noise, it is nyc after all...

markkgg - Thanks again for sharing your experience. I'll probably opt to work with varying depths as well depending upon the room. Peace and quiet (and a less dusty) existence doesn't come easily but it's certainly something I'd postponed way too long.
