Did you even read the article? It says that there is no emperical evidence that shows crime will increase. None. Zero. There is no expectation of an increase in crime in NYC. Not at all.
Thanks for posting an article that completely debunks your own ignorant statements.
There are going to be incredible cutbacks in social spending across the country. I don't see how that isn't going to result in an uptick in crime in every major city (and non-major cities like Chicago, too).
difference though is that the criminal hotspots in Chicago are far away from the prime neighborhoods. in contrast, there are massive housing projects in Manhattan, so the criminal activity will spill over into nice areas.
> if you really want to feel safe and live in a nice clean city, move to chicago's
I thought the goal was LESS crime, not more.
When crime is an issue, no one is going to be moving to cities with TWICE the crime rate. Especially when you don't get anything good with it, like good food or culture.
And thats just in the last 7 days. But I have no doubt Rufus will close his eyes and ears and scream that that info is somehow biased. Its okay Rufus, we understand facts are tough to swallow.
Its funny that you use the projects and homeless people as the scapegoat for all crime. However you say there are no projects in Chicago...so who is doing all that theft, robbery and simple assaulting? Perhaps friends of yours?
LOL. Yea three armed robberies at gunpoint and an aggravated assault in 7 days in "prime" Lincoln Park is worth ignoring. Move along, nothing to see here.
You do understand that it is usually people who have stuff that get robbed, right? Typically, people who have nothing get robbed quite a bit less than people who have stuff.
Are the schools in Hammond really so bad that you can't figure any of this stuff out on your own?
One last thing, Chicago does have some fine restaurants, but NYC has about 10 times as many. Again, schools in Hammond must be really bad.
bjw - i think that you should stay out of RE and go back to health care. There are plenty of patients who just had their boils lanced and they need you to process their claim forms.
Rufus - you do understand that just becasue you say something doesn't make it true, right? For example, you say crime is rampant in NYC, yet the facts show that crime is 2-3 times more rampant in Chicago. You keep repeating your false statement, but it doesn't change reality.
petrfitz, that's the nicest thing you've said about me! Unfortunately, I have no idea how to process claims. But there are plenty of nice people who take care of that here.

With this financial crisis, expect crime to increase drastically in NYC. The next few years for this city will be bleak.

Next topic....
I have taken to wearing a Kevlar flack-jacket when strolling about Manhattan as a flaneur.

In that case, I better contact my Savile Row tailor immediately and custom order a pair of Kevlar underpants as well!
malraux, that would be a great idea! after all, manhattan has projects in chelsea and upper west side.
if you really want to feel safe and live in a nice clean city, move to chicago's gold coast, river north, lincoln park, streeterville, lakeshore east.

nyc10022, you're an idiot. those neighborhoods i mentioned don't have projects. Manhattan does.
also, Chicago has some of the best restaurants in the country.
Because there is no crime in any of those hoods right Dufass...

crime is more bearable on a full stomach after all.

What are the odds rufus = petrfitz?
you know I had that same exact thought this morning bjw.
Sizzlack, most violent crimes in cities are committed by poor minorities. i know this is not politically correct, but facts are facts.
ok, so what do you make of all those crime stats in "prime Chicago areas"? Just an unfortunate coincidence?
first, most of those crime are non-violent. second, prime Chicago is still safer than prime NYC.
LOL. Yea three armed robberies at gunpoint and an aggravated assault in 7 days in "prime" Lincoln Park is worth ignoring. Move along, nothing to see here.
what are the odds bjw = ignorant a hole who doesnt know what he is talking about?
catfight!!!!
Yeah, murder is a non-violent crime.

Oh, by the way rufie,
THE CHICAGO RIVER IS ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!
(no shit, right now, look it up)
petrfitz, no need to get so touchy/vulgar.
bjw so you can attack me unprovoked but when I respond you have the nerve to correct me?
You started it. I defended myself. If you dont like people defending themselves against you stop attacking them unprovoked.
Explain how postulating that you might be posting as rufus is an "attack"?

bjw2103 & petrfitz, as you can see from the title of this thread, it exists only to invite ad homoman attacks on rufie. Knock it off.
Or properly complete this sentence:
"If you have nothing nice to say about a person . . . "

waverly, if you have nothing nice to say about rufie . . .
Uhhh....he stopped saying in UWS, I appreciate that.

Paraphrasing Alice Roosevelt, New Yorker, about 100 years ago, at tea or something:
waverly, if you have nothing nice to say about rufie, come sit here next to me.
I think the crime will go up and real estate down and I will buy an apt and rent it and move to another place :)

Please tell me your use of "ad homoman" was intended as a joke.
