Gary Barnett's Extell Development Co. is seeking to build a 15-story apartment tower on West 20th Street, a planned project that will be heard by the city's Landmarks Preservation Commission tomorrow.

The site, 19-25 West 20th Street, is in the Ladies' Mile Historic District, and any new construction would need consent of the commission. The new building would include a three-story addition to an existing garage on the site, according to the commission's agenda, coupled with a new tower on an adjacent parking lot.

Ugh. Another ugly mid-rise building in Manhattan.

rufie, why do you think it'll be a CAD-driven mid-rise representation of your Danny Devito face?

it's too bad NYC can't build more aesthetically appealing highrise condos. these low and midrise boxes are ugly as shit.

I guess rufus thinks if he talks them down enough, the prices might decline to where he can actually afford one. Not sure how many 97% reductions there will be, though...

Bananas, asparagus, highrise condos. What did you say is the nickname for Lakeview East, near all the neighborhoods that you preposterously claim to be condo-shopping in? I always forget.

And for what job did you move to New York?

I'm sorry, I meant " *aesthetically appealing* highrise condos" -- that's more your "cup of tea", right?

Im starting to think Rufus is one of those dolls with a string in his back and when you pull it it says one of four phrases...

"Chicago is the derivatives capital of the world!"

"Chicago has way more nice restaurants than NY..just ask Blah Blah culinary website"

"New York needs more Trump style generic high rises so it can look just like Chicago"

"Projects are where all the crime comes from, and because there are no projects in Chicago there is no crime"

oh wait and there's one more...

"What good is [sic] cultural amenities!?"

alanhart, do you have trouble reading? i said i'm looking at condos in lakeshore east, streeterville, and gold coast, not lakeview east.

stop looking and just buy one already so you can leave us here in peace

rufus, not everybody prefers hi-rise condos. some of us prefer lower buildings. i hate feeling like i live in a hotel or an office building, and i hate waiting for the elevator, and i hate feeling so removed from the city ...

even the highrise condos are horrendous. NYC needs to start hiring better architects rather than relying on hacks like costas kondylis, who design the same bland boxes over and over again.

Rufus, you have yet to say what your job is, please enlighten us. Are you an architect - let me guess, Art Vandalay?

We should find a Chicago Real estate board and act like jackasses over there...

I'm not sure they have them in Chicago, because nobody gives a sh*t

I listed a dozen world renowned architects in a previous thread who are building in the city and you somehow always seem to dismiss it
some...
A.M Stern
Herzog & deMeuron
Nouvel
Gehry
Meier
Koolhaas
Ban

But this is all ultimately irrelevant because at the end of the day this is still NYC and not Chicago, so alas, the vicious circle this is Rufus shall continue.

Nice one!

rufus thinks that buildings are better because they're taller, do we really need to discuss it further?

rufie, do YOU have trouble reading? I said "Lakeview East, ***near*** all the neighborhoods that you preposterously claim to be condo-shopping in", not *in*.

So that means that you're looking for very very tall, not merely mid-rise, condo towers ***near*** Boystown.

Hey, that got me to thinking, For what did you move to NY, rufie?
