Discussion about
What a mess. This lousy city can't even do proper urban planning. No wonder it's fallen behind Chicago. You don't see this kind of shit in Chicago. http://www.nypost.com/seven/11102008/news/regionalnews/upper_e__hell_zone_137998.htm

"Urban Planning". One more term that rufus has NO FUCKING CLUE about. That isn't what urban planning is.

Seriously, kid, ritalin. And a dictionary.

And maybe some day, with enough therapy, you'll be able to hold down a civil service job and finally be able to afford your dream of actually moving out of your parents' basement.

it's tragic that so many people in upper east side are living in such miserable conditions. they can't even sleep due to all the noise.

sadly, that is a constant of NYC life: construction noise, falling cranes, and constantly walking under scaffolding.

Yes, hopefully we can all move to the peace and quiet of places where no one wants to live so no one builds anything - and no one goes out to nice resturants or clubs - like Kansas and Chicago.

I guess Rufus gave up on his idea of Chicago having anything to offer in terms of nightlife, culture, food, good looking people. Now his "pitch" is admitting it has none of those, so it is very quiet.

But then isn't Kansas better, because its Chicago without the projects?

Chicago's "urban plan" for subways: don't build ANY -- even while trying to seem like an Olympics-class town (or whatever is a step or three down from a city).

alanhart, Chicago is the prohibitive frontrunner for the 2016 Olympics bid; no other city is even close. The IOC realizes that chicago is the ideal city: cosmopolitan, clean, diverse, and well-planned.

Daley has done a great job with the city while Bloomberg is a mess.

Correct, you missed Alan's point... its a competition amongst towns.

Cities, particularly good cities, don't care...

> The IOC realizes that chicago is the ideal city: cosmopolitan, clean, diverse, and well-planned.
Yes, their track record says exactly that! Beijing, Sarajevo, Athens, Chicago!
All sparkling clean and diverse!

Rufus, you get funnier by the minute.

> Daley has done a great job with the city while Bloomberg is a mess.

I guess you are talking the IOC's definition of "great job". Because Daley seems to be presiding over MUCH more crime, MUCH more poverty, MUCH less income, MUCH less wealth, MUCH less culture.

Sounds like a smashing success to me!

Maybe Chicago should be going for the special olympics instead!

I've been holding back the "special olympics" comment for weeks. But it does add a higher level of meaning for Cracker Boy's enthusiasm about the Olympics, no?

nyc10022, since when were tokyo, rio, and madrid, merely "towns?"

the fact of the matter is, Chicago is destroying the competition precisely because it is such a superior city.

Daley was voted by Time Magazine as the best big city mayor in the U.S. It was NOT bloomberg.

Did Rufus just use RIO to show a positive comparison. One of the poorest and crime-ridden cities anywhere? The one with basically no economy?

Oh my lord, Rufus has clearly never left his house...
