Derek Jeter is considering Texas. Not because he wants to live there, but just to avoid paying NY state income tax.

It is a lot like Chicago... its the fattest state in the country.

Although I have no interest in living there, I have several friends who moved to Dallas from NYC and absolutely love it.

The state and city tax is really driving a lot of talented people away from the city. It's quite unfortunate.

In most parts of Texas, you can buy a 4,000 + square foot McMansion for the price of a stuio apartment in Manhattan.

I had to live in Dallas for 6 months for work about 10 years back.

Absolutely hated it. 0 culture.

Austin was better.

And you can get even better deals in Cambodia.

Its called "demand".

It's also due to the fact that Texas is not a tiny island with very little land.

I'd like to go back in 10 years. I think my hubby is on board with that too. We have rental property in San Antonio that I hope to turn into primary residence.
