Has anyone used MyHome.com for a co-op renovation?

Hi, my husband and I have been looking to buy a TLC in the UES. I am looking for some advice in the following -
Is it worth the effort to buy a TLC and spend time and effort on renovating the place
Or
Is it worth it to spend a few hundred thousands and get a ready to move-in place.

How long does it take to get an apt renovated ( with a brand new kitchen and 2 bath updated ) and what would be the cost involved.
We do not have much time in our hands - we are looking to move in early Sept in time for the school year.

I had an estimate from myhome, but ended up going with contractors from franklinreport.com. Everyone that I found on that site was awesome. (It was second time I renovated an apartment and a better experience than the first renovation.) The bulk of the work was done by Sheridan & Sugrue. (It included combining two apartments and having a kitchen and bathroom redone.)

Zorter, re the popcorn ceilings. I have a beach house that had popcorn ceilings throughout that I wanted removed, which was going to be terribly expensive. But my contractor just scrubbed them down with water and a little elbow grease. And viola! Of course they will all have to be painted, but try scrubbing a section first before you go to the expense of replacing all the ceilings. Good luck.

Anyone know the approx price for a regular 650 square foot apartment in Manhattan to redo kitchen, Granite tops new appliances, floors in apartment and painting whole apartment. Also has popcorn ceiling that has to be replaced. The super in building said the ceiling would be 3000,00????

I live in a co op and had a bathroom renovation done by myhome. I found them very difficult to deal with, they did not follow co op rules, and the super forced them to stop work until they were able to do so. The work was not done on a time, and it was very sloppy. When I requested they come in to do touch ups, it took several months for them to do so. I would advise that you do not use them. STAY AWAY!!!!

I had an estimate from them, but read too many bad reviews in too many places. I am currently using Pro-Tone to do 2 baths and extensive trim upgrades - very happy so far, but the work is not yet finished, although on schedule . George at Pro-Tone has been a pleasure to work with.
